How to Store Stud Earrings:
Earring Holder:- Spread your earring out on a flat surface. Match up all the pairs
- Put the earrings in an earring holder. Try to use a holder with more holes than you have earrings
- Put the backing on each earring securely. It should be tight enough to hold it in place but not put pressure on the earring. Use any extra backings you need
- Cut a piece of bubble wrap to fit in the bottom of the plastic container. Lay it inside
- Lay the earring holder, posts down, onto the bubble warp. Put the lid on
Other Storage Methods:
- Put your earrings in ice cube trays. Put one or two pairs in each compartment. Stack the trays
- Use a fishing tackle box or other plastic storage container to hold earrings. Put the pairs in the various compartments and close the lid
- Use a pill organizer. Pill organizers come in various sizes. The compartments are usually labeled for a week to a month. Use the smaller types to carry earrings on a trip. Put a pair or two of earrings in each compartment. The compartments open individually, so they won't get mixed up
How to Make Stud Earrings:
- A stud earring sits on the front of the ear lobe without showing how it is attached. This is done by gluing a bead or stone to a post which goes through a hole which has been pierced through the ear. At the back of the ear lobe, an earring back is placed on the post to hold the earring
- Look at beads or stones you own or can buy over the internet or in a local craft store, or select from other small found objects that you think would make a good earring pair. Before deciding on the the earring you want to make, try holding the items up to your ears and looking in the mirror
- Consider whether the beads or stones have a flat surface big enough for you to glue onto an earring post. Also, of course, be careful not to choose a post that is that is too big and will show around the edges
- Various post sizes can be ordered over the internet or purchased at craft stores. Decide what color and kind of material you want to use for your posts. Inexpensive posts are available which are made out of base metal will look attractive and may work out fine for you. If you have very sensitive ears you may want to use stainless steel or real gold or silver
- A round bead with no flat surfaces can be glued into an earring post which has a small cup at the end
- You also need to decide what kind of earring backs to use. The round plastic disc ones are sometimes preferred if the earring needs stabilization (i.e., it wobbles when using another type of earring back).
- The cone shape posts are easy to put on because they can be easily grasped
- Roughening the back If the back of the bead or stone is shiny, you should rough it up a little bit with a file or sandpaper so that the glue will adhere well. The face of the post should also be roughed up
- Using a cotton swab, clean the roughened surfaces with alcohol so the glue will stick on better
- Select glue that will bind metal and stone, preferably one that is waterproof. Read and follow the instructions on the glue you have selected. Some glues should be put on both surfaces, and some only on one. Apply the glue to one or both surfaces with the end of a toothpick
- Before wearing the earrings, let the glue dry in accordance with the instructions on the glue tube
How to Wear Stud Earrings:
- Wear large diamond stud earrings (1 carat or higher) when you are going to a special event, like a dance or reception, preferably with a dress that shows off your shoulders and neck. Put your hair up into an elegant up-do so that the earrings won't be covered by strands of hair. Wear smaller diamond studs (1 carat or less) with semi-formal outfits (like slacks and boots) and pull your hair back into a simple bun or ponytail
- Wear sterling silver or gold stud earrings of any size with semi-casual outfits, like jeans and sneakers. Wear your hair down and pull it behind your ears, or if you have medium to long locks, pull them back over the tops of your ears and then put your hair into a tight ponytail
- Wear pearl stud earrings at very formal events like weddings, or to special ceremonies like sorority functions. This is another case where you should put your hair up, but it's also preferable to wear a more conservative dress that covers your arms and shoulders when you wear pearls
- Wear plastic stud earrings when you are coordinating with a fun and unusual casual outfit. For instance, these stud earrings are ideal if you're attending a party with a "punk rocker" theme. Coordinate the color of your plastic earrings with a headband, necklace, bracelet, belt or shoes. Make it obvious that the entire outfit coordinates with the color of your stud earrings
