How to Change a Skin on a Nintendo DS

Users can bring color, themes and personalized styles to their Nintendo DS units with customized skins. Ultimately heavy-duty stickers, these skins offer a sleek protective layer over the DS surfaces. Skins also make the handheld gaming devices easy to identify, especially after a group wi-fi session. • Remove the existing skin from the DS. Pull up the corners of each skin piece and peel them off.

• Remove lingering residue. Dip a cotton swab in adhesive remover (such as Goo Gone). Wring the swab tip out and rub it on the residue in a circular motion.
• Clean the DS unit thoroughly with the microfiber cloth to remove lint, dust or grime. Wet and squeeze out the head of a cotton swab and firmly rub it in a circular motion to remove stubborn dirt.
• Affix the top piece of the outer skin. Peel the backing of the top outside skin piece. Align the center of the skin with the Nintendo insignia and ensure the skin piece aligns with hinges at the top. Push the center of the skin down and bring the sides down.
• Rub the affixed top skin from the center out to each edge to eliminate air from under the skin.
• Affix the bottom piece of the outer skin. Flip the DS over. Peel the backing off the skin and align it with the hinges and the bottom of the case's outside. Press the skin down in the center, rubbing outward to eliminate air bubbles.
• Open the DS to affix inside skins. Peel each piece's backing off and align the skin pieces with cutouts for speaker holes, screens and buttons. Rub each piece from the center outward to remove air.
• Close the DS and affix any edge skin pieces that exist, putting pressure on the center of the skin piece first and smoothing it to the outer edges.
